Pent-up demand is about to overflow

All of the hoping and praying for the end of the pandemic looks like we may actually be getting closer to masks becoming optional, visiting our favorite watering holes and restaurants, and with family we haven’t seen or touched in months.

Let’s all take a collective sigh and pray that it is so.

After the many months of restrictions, regulations, social distancing, and virtual lockdown, the people are more than ready to break out. And when they do, they will also be breaking out their pocketbooks. Covid has had an unforeseen benefit. Individual savings have exceeded $1.7 trillion, which is unheard of.

Are you ready to help? There will be a rush of activity as people get vaccinated and cast aside the restrictions. Once again, they will be out shopping for all manner of products and services. Will your company be ready to accommodate them?

I believe that this will be a once in a lifetime opportunity. Black Friday, Cyber Monday, President’s Day, and all of the other usual selling dates rolled into one.

Pitching your product or service to the consumers is essential. Time is of the essence. The early bird and all the platitudes apply. If you are not in front of the millions of dollars about to be spent, you may never have as big an opportunity to help your company regain its footing. You should operate under the most aggressive FOMO you can muster.

Be bold, be first, be confident and brave. If you do not ask you don’t get – the sale I mean.

Bet on yourself as you go to market. Your company was strong before and it can be strong again.

Explore all the outlets for your message, integrate multiple platforms to make sure you are reaching the people who are most likely to purchase from you. When working on social media understand the audience and tweak your message toward them.

Do not overlook print ads, direct mail, cable ads and even radio. Your budget is your guide on what is doable. My advice is to not be risk averse.  Start small but start. You can track the results and tweak your campaigns depending on the number or leads and sales that are generated.

Be aggressive, or your competition will beat you to the finish line and capture new revenue and cash flow.

As the politician’s wrangle about restrictions, opening guidelines and so forth, you are responsible for the life of your business, and your employees. Challenge when you can, comply when it is wise, remembering you are part of the solution and not a prisoner.

Good luck, God speed.
