Amalgamated Life Insurance Company was established in 1943 by the founder and president of the Amalgamated Clothing Workers of America, Sidney Hillman. Hillman was a labor leader who devoted his life to not only the labor movement, but to the service of the community as a whole. He understood the needs of working people and sought equitable solutions to the issues confronting them and the nation. Hillman’s efforts to bring respect and dignity to working people left a lasting legacy.
